Baby I Got You're Money

I realized something while driving back from Holyrood in my car.

I was driving alone in my car, listening to the barenaked ladies (as loud as my poor little sunfire would allow) and singing along to every word at the top of my lungs. I realized how happy that used to make me. and I couldn't let go of how funny it was. Something so foolish. Something (I would hazzard to guess) 90% of people do, at least occasionally, and I was having so much fun! just singing along to the radio. I think that I've become way too dependent on money to meet my needs for happiness.

I was always someone who never needed expensive things, or wanted to go to the most expensive places in town. I'm much happier ordering a pizza and having some friends over to watch tv. The stress of thinking about money and finances, and trying to make ends meet causes many teens and adults (young, and old not so young) to have serious mental health issues. Stress and Depression, are often the reasons we eat, the reasons we drink, and reasons we shut down and stop letting people into our lives. Try not to let it anything get you down anymore than it absolutely has to. And never stop doing those little things that make you smile. The next time you get groceries, ride the cart across the parking lot. When a song comes on the radio that you love, sing along like you're a goddamn rock star! Whatever makes you feel that happy, inhibition-free, smile inducing state, do it as much as you possibly can.

  1. I love this, April! It's so true. We get caught up in all of the stressful pieces of life and forget about stopping to appreciate the little things :) Thanks for the reminder <3
