So I watched This indie project tonight. It was essentially a 2 person rant, written by Bobcat Goldthwait. Remember him?
Sure you do, but what you dont realize is
now he's this guy :\ Awkward I know... and I have to give it credit. it's poignant and direct. there is no "what its trying to do" it just presents itself. It's bold, and I really enjoy that. The writing leaves a little to be desired at times, and the content gets a little "personal soapbox" for me. I found myself getting distracted by trying to picture Bobcat performing the monologues (both in the past and present). But the idea is so fresh. Black comedy is a tricky genre and I feel as though this film really nailed it. All the issues are completely forgivable
The film follows Frank, who in his 40's has amounted to be a disappointment as a father, a husband, and an employee. When an attempt to change his situation is thwarted by an unlikely friend, Frank struggles living in a time that is so far removed from his ideal society that he is driven to take action!
While Rotten Tomato only gave the movie 67%, I recommend checking it out. I wouldn't splurge on the Blu Ray, but there are quite a few very satisfying rants, that will have you shouting "YES!!!" at your television screen. Check out the Trailer for
God Bless America, and rent it today! (yeah, people still do that!)
Holy poop. He looks completely unrecognizable!
ReplyDeleteI'm actually going to check this film out! I love yelling at the TV screen!
Thanks for the recommendation April!
