Duck Dinosaurs

I may not be the first to say this but I have a theory.

We're heading into a holiday season. One of the most competitive television seasons. Some stations choose to do a lot of Christmas specials, old tried and true favorites, to gain viewers over the 12 days, others try to appeal to another, rather large demographic. The people who are sick of hearing about Christmas by December 15th seem to enjoy when Stations airing popular (or not so much) sitcoms in Marathons*. This is what A&E has decided to do.
A&E has been in a gradual decline for some time now. It found some success with Duck Dynasty but it seems to have died off. Likely because the franchise will attach it's name to every single product possible. There are Duck Dynasty hair clips for little girls. That's real. A population of people could have lost interest in the painful, repetitive ignorance and racism when it was realized that the television show fully controls every scene on the so-called reality show, in which the people of Duck Dynasty are merely cartoons of themselves, playing characters carefully edited for television.

*I personally get stoned and watch The Big Bang Theory marathon with my brother. It's kind of a tradition we've developed with our friend Ryan. They are my home friends, and the basement is my sanctuary from all the stupidity exposure that keep me sane in my pathetic home town.

Doesn't a Duck Dynasty Marathon seem to be on the loosing end of a rating competition? With all of the Christmas specials, and other marathons to compete with. That's not to mention Netflix and pirated Media issues that were always a struggle for television. Doesn't it stand to reason that Duck Dynasty is not going to do as well as they would have a year or two ago?
Recently A cast member of the show had an interview with GQ Magazine. Why is beyond me. I would have thought that GQ appealed to a certain demographic of people who have little to no interest in television programs exploiting the ignorance we're so happy to look down our noses at. As unbelievable as this is to me, I was not surprised in any way to learn the interview exposed some very ignorant and miss-educated statements made by "Phil", The patriarch of the Duck Dynasty Family.
Very obviously the LGBT and African American communities were outraged about this article and the statements, and A&E suspended said cast member immediately. The rest of the cast retaliated by saying they would not continue without "Phil" on teh television show, and so the drama continues. But wait just a second, A&E will still continue to air the marathon of the television show over Christmas. and what fortune everyone is newly talking about the show after these embarrassing, crude remarks. I would not be surprised to find A&E at the beginning of this whole ordeal, to boost their ratings. Exploiting and manipulating people in the name of the almighty dollar. God Bless America.
